WHAT’S HAPPENING TO OUR HOUSING IN THE DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE?
Thursday May 9
3pm
Carnegie Theatre, 401 Main St on the main floor

On Thursday May 9th, come join us for a community town hall based on CCAP’s 2012 report on SRO hotel rental rates on the shrinking numbers of low-income affordable housing in the DTES and the gentrification and displacement crisis we are fighting. Jean and Ivan have been taking CCAP’s report on gentrification in the SRO hotels out on a tour with community groups in the DTES, with city planners, agencies, and others who we think would benefit from hearing about what’s happening with our baseline, last ditch housing stock.

Learn about CCAP’s housing research:
– What has gentrification done to hotel room rents?
– Hear from people who have been displaced from the DTES
– Brainstorm together about what we can do to stop the rent increases
